Comment with one of my fandoms, and I'll tell you:

the character I least understand
interactions I enjoyed the most
the character who scares me the most
the character who is mostly like me
hottest looks character
one thing I dislike about my fave character
one thing I like about my hated character
a quote or scene that haunts me
a death that left me indifferent
a character I wish died but didn’t
my ship that never sailed

Thank you for the interesting responses!

BTW: I have been meaning to ask: how do you keep up with the show? We share the same part of the world, and I have been going a bit spare over lack of DVDs since season 2 (seriously, what's up with that). I am willing to fork over the money to Amazon if I have to, but I'd prefer DVDs (my own copy of the source)...

Oh, in the casee of Dr Who that's very good to know - thanks for the information! Though my wallet is a bit grumpy now because of this piece of news :)

I've rewatched the early s2 scene where Antony pulls Vorenus out of his stupor by hissing very closely into his ear and the scene late in s2 where Vorenus helps Antony commit suicide... quite a lot.

pretty sure you used this to sell me on the show before I was sure it was worth sticking with.

I've really enjoyed what Elfpen has done with Dooku in the Reprise series, but I agree, he could have been fleshed out more. We already had POWER FOR POWER'S SAKE in Palpatine and Anakin as decent person tragically fallen to evil for personal reasons, but Dooku could have been an interesting middle ground - a believer in the political mess he was publicly heading even - and he just wasn't.

Jyn Ersa's mother, because I kept being angry with her and the writers. It was so pointless and stupid for her to show up instead of hiding away with her daughter and live to rescue her husband another day, and so obviously there so Jyn in the present would have only one parent to angst about.

*nod nod*

That was such lazy writing.

I'm more okay about Maul than you are - I thought Rebels gave him a fitting sendoff, even if it wasn't Vader stabbing himself to kill Maul. *g*

Early in Season 4, Riley has this nerdy grad-student thing going that I like a lot. I wish they'd kept up that aspect of his personality -- it would have given him more dimension.

Buffy & Dawn in Season 5 is one of my very favourite relationships on the show as well.

Ohh, I thought I was the only one who thought Riley was kinda cute that way and at that time.

No fan of his becoming jealous and insecure later, obvs.

Buffy & Dawn. Yep. ♥

I'd be interested in your take on this for House, but it's been quite a while and I'm not sure if you ever considered it one of your fandoms? If not, I'll go with Doctor Who alternatively.

I love your point about how Donna's dogged determination plays out in both good and occasionally wince-inducing ways.

Nina <333 Yeah, it's very true what you say about Nina. I think she wants to process difficult/painful things herself before she has to discuss them with others, and I suspect it's probably partly a coping mechanism from her abusive childhood, childhood abuse being great at teaching you that telling people about bad things will do nothing. But it's a flaw.

when s2 ended, I was very annoyed they'd ressurected Herrick, whom I hadn't found v. interesting a villain in s1, but I was wrong. His s3 appearance turned out to be a narrative masterstroke, and the actor was awesome.

YES. I mean I really like him in S1, playing a copper and horribly charming the tea lady, but I was "ugh" when he came back and then NO IT WAS SO GREAT. And I loved what it did both in showcasing Nina's heroism - she's a nurse, she protects the vulnerable, no matter what - and in showing in Mitchell both a bit of vulnerability I definitely felt for, as he's trying to convince the others Herrick is a threat, and that very ugly self-interest.

"There's a poison in you" is amazing. I wish I could fit my icon of it into my rather-smaller-than-on-LJ icon package!

it's not easy to spot, because she deals with changes she doesn't want with such grace, but Sister Julienne has a default setting of not questioning the status quo/tradition/things-as-they-are. It's not that she doesn't do something about injustice when she sees it (and when she can), but without a massive trigger, her instinct is to assume the status quo is right.

This is actually one of the more fascinating things about Sister Julienne to me--you're right, it is subtle, but so consistent (and kudos to the writers and Jenny Agutter). You see it with Sister Bernadette in S2, you see it with the contraceptive pill, and perhaps most prominently, we saw it with Sister Mary Cynthia this year. You start to wonder if the character is aware of this at all and what that awareness could mean.

Re: Peter Pettigrew - I've always wondered if it was that he was set up as a direct contrast to Neville but while Neville grew (as a character), Pettigrew never did.

>>the character who scares me the most: Dolores Umbridge,<< I understand completely. I could never figure out why till I realised I was imagining my primary school headteacher in her stead.

>>Part of what made the character was that yes, he really was a miserable git. And he was incredibly brave and dedicated.<< Yes, this.
