Fortunately most of the act IS still in place, it's just the prescreening measure that's been struck. That's why people can still sue to get those laws overturned. But the prescreening measure was pretty important. I'd love it if there was a way to get the prescreening measure applied to ALL the states--that way they couldn't squeal about unfairness, and there's racism everywhere, not just in the ex-Confederate states--but getting laws through Congress, especially right now, is worse than pulling teeth.
