I did wonder that if "Mr. World" can actually do the Odin/Missiles thing, why Wednesday didn't do that instead of Fare More Complicated And Dangerous To Himself scheme, but then I realised that another thing the novel reminds us of is that technology is ever faster becoming obsolete (when Shadow spots the God of Railways, a much diminished person), so the missiles thing might only solve the problem for a few years. Also it would mean something like Easter's existence - she's doing well for one of the old gods because her name is constantly spoken and her day celebrated, but otoh no one knows they're celebrating her anymore, and thus it's not true worship.
