Well, early on I had my "oh really?" expression when Steve said "these are the bad guys, I am the good guy" (though it was ic for him to say so) and the Germans pursuing him just started shooting at anyone on the beach instead of even attempting to make contact with what was clearly not a part of any army they knew of. But then in the scene which I critisized for Ludendorff's implausible behavior we saw the German soldiers in general looking miserable and being in bad condition, and I thought, okay, movie, maybe youre going for something more complicated. And it did.
