Re: Rachel/Decker scene, actually I’m entirely sure the movie didn’t intend a reading as rape at all. The actors infamously couldn’t stand each other, which didn’t help. (And caused a crew member to comment “that wasn’t a love scene, that was a hate scene”.). Added to which 80s type of romantic dialogue, and you have what we got. If you think about it: purely on page, in terms of script, a Han and Leia scene from “Empire Strikes Back”, with him backing her into a corner literally while they’re doing repairs on the asteroid, could have come across the same way. But not only did the actors have chemistry but they liked each other, and there’s a playfulness which never gives you the impression Han wouldn’t back off if Leia seriously would not want his attention. Whereas with Ford’s and Young’s antipathy, and Ford generally being miserable during shooting, that dimension is lacking, and thlus it feels more like Deckard is threatening Rachel than anything else.
