He. :) Well, technically, Hugo was still writing when Zola wrote, they definitely overlap, due to Hugo getting very old. And hey, they're buried next to each other (and with Alexandre Dumas, which is very fitting since he and Hugo were the French Romantics) in the Pantheon.

Also, that's a beautiful Forster quote.
