Oh absolutely. To put it more frivolously: all those mad and/or evil and/or too narrow-minded Admirals our pre-Discovery series heroes get to confront would argue that a career in Starfleet does not automatically condition one to do the right thing. (Though it should, of course, set a baseline of decency.)
