You do realize Carnivale is one of my favorite shows on the air right now, don't you? Also, for the past month or so, it was the only show I was watching that I would classify as "brilliant," besides BSG now, so I'm very excited you started watching! You'll see throughout the run of the series that even once it is completely confirmed (or, I guess, at this point, seems to be, since they could always throw in a twist) who is the "hero" and who is the "villain," both continue to struggle with their positions. The "hero" is faced with, and sometimes finds himself performing morally questionable actions, and the "villain" continues to fight against his nature, so the lines between both are always just on the edge of being blurred. It's a fascinating show, and all of the characters are serviced very well, and at times ones that start out seeming minor end up being pushed into the forefront of the story by the end of the first season and into the start of the second.
With all my new fandoms, I'm really going to have to start making or finding more icons!
