Ooh, I like your observation there about "you go too fast for me"! I can't see the slash here, because the OTP in this story is Salieri/God -- Amadeus is just God's vessel, really. I didn't fully grasp that as an adolescent, and made a lot more of the character at the time. I think one of the reasons I was able to enjoy this production so much is that ultimately the show really isn't about Mozart at all, or Salieri's relationship with him.

But as you say, it does matter that Mozart be fully human, and there was hardly any of that here, alas. Hulce was SO GOOD ARGH.
