Very much agreed. I saw him four times on stage, too, though not with A Christmas Carol. I saw him as: Claudius in Hamlet in Stratford, Antony in "Antony and Cleopatra" in Stratford, Prospero in "The Tempest" (still Stratford), and the main character in "The Master Builder" (London).
