Now I remember, the first time I saw a Lynch movie, I was a sophomore in college and a bunch of friends had rented out the Media Room and someone with a Blockbuster account had gone and picked up Eraserhead and Blue Velvet because the ONE GUY WHO HAD A VCR IN HIS ROOM WAS A RICH JERK who would also put the moves on you halfway through the movie. But anyway. So there we were, a gaggle of 19 and 20 year olds, mostly young women, and Eraserhead evoked some horrified/incredulous shrieks and "What the hell was that?"

But Blue Velvet just terrified everyone (the fireman waving did get some laughs). I remember my best friend clutched my hand when Frank Booth showed up and neither of us let go until the end. When the robin has the beetle! Aaaaaahhhh.
