The Aix la Chapelle show was stellar, absolutely captivating, expressly because it put the focus on the day-to-day of Albrecht’s & Agnes’s trip, instead of the highlighting the usual “goes to Italy and discovers the light beyond the Alps” (which has its justification...) I’m very much in favour of “gimme less hero worship, more human being!” And Aachen did very well in that respect. (Omg the catalogue! It’s so massive, you could kill someone with that if used as a cudgel) Which doesn’t mean to say I wouldn’t visit the London one, if given a chance :)
