Well, it's like you said: FW prepared me well for this. ;) More seriously, one of my favorite subgenres to read is "memoirs by people whose parents were so abusive it was worth writing a memoir about," so no, this didn't register on my radar. (Of things to avoid reading about, not of things to avoid doing!)
