Oh, I've softened towards the movie in that I think if it's given many people joy as kids, it deserves accolades on its own right, but I do feel for poor Michael Ende (and his wife), and teenage!me was very upset indeed. I also still want a book based miniseries, because yes, it missed out on all the profound parts, and not just because it's only based on half of the book.
