In fairness to Le Carré, he himself did move on from Cold War plots post 1989 (to the Pharma Industry, international arms trading etc.) but his imitators usually didn't, so Slow Horses very firmly rooting itself in the here and now, the big backstory secret of Lamb's move to Slough House not withstanding, is very welcome.
