Tigh and civilians: leaving aside his inexperience in politics, the problem is that he really doesn't get them, nor respects them. In the first season, he groused about "civilian cry-babies" quite a lot. In the flashbacks from the season opener, we saw he himself fell apart in civilian life before Adama got him back into the fleet. And he still thinks Lee chose "that woman" over his father, as opposed to Lee making a choice for democratic principles over a military coup.
