Having now read In Cold Blood, which deals with the effect the killings have on the town quite thoroughly, I'm left wondering whether both David Lynch for Twin Peaks was influenced somewhat. Halloween, hm, maybe, though the concept of Michael Myers as the killer without any degree of humanity or dimensionality is rather the opposite - both the ways the killers are presented in Capote and the way he describes them in "In Cold Blood" is rather the opposite.
