If I remember the scene between Sark and Lazarey correctly, Sark says something to the effect that he has very few memories of his father, but in those that he has Lazarey is abusive. So this is canonical although obviously the abuse couldn't have gone on for very long.

That said, the thought of lots of poor abused Sark fics is just too terrifying to consider.
