I was somewhat misty-eyed myself when borrowing that particular Star Trek quote, and am so glad it worked for Nathan and Hiro and wasn't over the top. Stories that end with a mindwipe are tricky to do in a way that doesn't make the audience/readers feel cheated, but with things like the Haitian promising not to take Claire's memories away ever and the messages, I tried to let it have an effect - good to know I pulled it off!
