But such is the way of things, I suppose.

Verily. I often have the reverse experience, too. I mean, for three years straight two thirds of my flist is squeeing about Supernatural (well, okay, right now, they're also massively critisizing, but still), and I did watch the first season, but whatever spark there is did not catch me, and it leaves me indifferent. Can't get into Stargate and its spin-off, either.

Jack stayed the same throughout

The irony with Jack was that he had more character progress in one DW episode in s3 - Utopia, natch - than he had in TW throughout the entire first season. But given that his big hang-up was "why did the Doctor leave me and why am I immortal?", I suppose it couldn't have happened any other way.

I did definitely notice the sibling vibe in the cell, but given what Heroes has taught me about siblings...*coughs*

Only Italian siblings. I'm sure the show never meant to imply anything about the Anglosaxon family relationships. *veg* Though this reminds me, ever since there were rumours about the Master coming back in the third season of New Who, Old School fans were worried Rusty would retcon him into the Doctor's brother, and there was much soul-searching as to who would still continue to slash the two and who wouldn't. And then all fannish souls were set at rest with a single line in Sound of Drums.*g*

No, actually, I think I'm surprised to admit that I'm more interested in Owen and Jack as a gen pairing rather than slash, because with gen you can get straight to the emotional nitty-gritty rather than having to juggle sex on the plate too. They're messed-up enough already; they don't need the extra push.

Especially since they both have a tendency to use sex as a short cut to avoid actual commitment. I agree, it should be gen for them. It also makes it impossible for them to put the other into a simple category.
