As I understand it the German versions were recorded because the record company thought that they would be popular with the Beatles' Hamburg-established German fanbase. However the band didn't like doing them and it turned out that the German fans preferred the "authenticity" of English, so they didn't do any more.

I always think that "The Ballad of John and Yoko" would make a good comedy John/Delenn vid.
