More love: from characters of ST: Deep Space Nine, Blake's 7 and Buffy The Vampire Slayer

I'll get to the rest as well, though it might take a while, as I'm off to Frankfurt later today.

What Jake Sisko loves best about Rom

...his kindness. Not that this was in evidence from day one, because in truth Nog’s dad was as horrified by their friendship as Jake’s was at first, but later. Jake doesn’t regret staying on Deep Space Nine during the second occupation, it was his decision, but he was scared as hell inside, tried not to show it and missed his dad fiercely. Rom didn’t say anything, he offered Jake to stay in Nog’s old room for the duration of the occupation as soon as he found out Jake was still there. And suddenly, everything was easier.

What Kira loves best about Ziyal

...her artistic talent, which reminds Kira of her mother, Kira Meru (whom she believes to have died early in Nerys’ childhood at this point)
...the fact that Ziyal made it possible for her to look at a Cardassian face and seriously feel affection instead of instinctive revulsion which has to be overcome first by her mind; and no, it’s not Ziyal’s Bajoran nose that makes the difference, it’s Ziyal
...that Ziyal is the girl from a camp who saw one parent die, lost another and was surrounded by brutal slavemasters who did not grow up to kill; Kira could save her from that.

She should have known that meant Ziyal would grow up to be killed, Kira thinks later.

What Odo loves best about Kira

...her fierceness. By which he doesn’t just mean her fighting spirit, he means that Kira never stops pushing and being passionate about everything she does, even if it’s a ball game or a prayer. She’s never indifferent about anything, she either loves it or hates it.
...her belief in the Prophets. He doesn’t share it; if anything, he distrusts them. But if Kira believes in the Prophets, and Kira is a good person to whom her religion often is a source of inspiration and strength, then what his people did to the Vorta and Jem’Hadar by making themselves their gods is not completely unforgivable. Every time he watches Kira pray, he thinks of the Weyoun who died in his arms, and the guilt he feels on behalf of his people is a bit lessened.
...the fact she let him go. He couldn’t have gone if she hadn’t.

What Xander loves best about Buffy

...the way she fights. It’s not that he hasn’t got ample opportunities for comparison by now, having seen Faith and the new Slayers in action, but to him, Buffy still has the best moves; watching her fight will always be one of his favourite things, and that’s another reason why he build her training room for her
...the fact she’s a protector who creates families. She’d laugh if he told her and deny it, but it’s true. Xander and Willow and Jesse, all through his childhood, were friends. Xander and Willow and Buffy and Giles became family, and it’s Buffy who made the difference. It’s the first kind of family experience he had which was good. Even when he’s mad as hell at Buffy for cutting herself off or for doing things he doesn’t understand, he knows she loves him and the others, and wants to protect them.

He never believed that about his parents for a second.

and now for a very special challenge: Space Commander Travis!

What Space Commander Travis loves about Blake

...Blake gives him a reason. A cause. He gets Blake’s commitment to causes, because Blake is his, and Blake won’t ever give up, which means Travis’ cause won’t be taken away. Before, Travis was part of the service, sure, and he was good at it, but he was always was lacking something. Passion, perhaps. Those massacres were ordered to get the job done, not because he hated civilians. He didn’t really hate anyone before Blake made it personal. Suddenly, he felt as if he had been only half alive before. And he loves Blake for that.

I'm off to Frankfurt later today

I still have the feeling I keep just missing you, though all I did in Frankfurt last week was pass through the airport (twice)...

he build her training room

Pedantic correction mode: I remember this one came up on the travelogue, but I probably forgot to say - the past of build is built, so he built her training room, also her training room was built etc.
