Star Wars news

While I'm getting ready for [livejournal.com profile] bimo's weekend visit, which will entail lots of Blake's 7 and Firefly, and for posting my [livejournal.com profile] babficathon entry once [livejournal.com profile] leyenn gives the "all clear" sign, I discovered, to my great delight, via [livejournal.com profile] fernwithy and [livejournal.com profile] jediowl, that we've got a new Episode III picture:

...and she's wearing the japor pendant!

(Why this is a big deal if you, like me, are actually fond of the prequels: this was the present Anakin made for Padme as a child in The Phantom Menace.)

(Oh, and while the picture exudes angst, they're looking drop-dead gorgeous, both of them.)

On that SW prequel lovin' note, check out this essay on iconic imagery in Star Wars, and the multi-part, lengthy analysis of Attack of the Clones which inspired it.

have fun ...

... the two of you. [livejournal.com profile] bimo should have left cologne by now and should be sitting in the train that takes her right to you :-). (I took her to the station this morning which was (despite of the fact that I was rather tired ... ) a fun thing to do :-). )

While I'm getting ready for [info]bimo's weekend visit, which will entail lots of Blake's 7 and Firefly,

I must admit that I am a bit envious, thinking of your Blake Seven and Firefly mini-con ;-)). Btw, we really managed to get the "Angel" download in time, and we even did not forget to burn it this morning ;-) so Bimo will bring it along :-))

also the weather is supposed to be quite nice this weekend,

so again: have fun :-))

Thank you, a thousand times. You are a hero and a poet.

(Though I did like Effi Briest).

Thank you, a thousand times. as I have said, it was teamwork, and involved stupid me not finding a cushion ... but I think, bimo will explain things ;-))

You are a hero and a poet.

"I am no hero, nor was meant to be" ;-)).

And thanks for reading my little book entry. It has gotten somewhat more personal than I intended it to be, but, well, ... I kind of liked writing it ;-))

...The Helmet? :) I think I am going to be WAY too amused if that's part of the real title.

No, "Behind the Helmet" is a HyperSpace (ie, restricted to paying users) feature on the SW website.

Oh, okay. :) Wasn't familiar with that.

Thanks so much for those essay links, particularly the multi-part one, which I have been reading off and on all afternoon. I still have two parts to go, but it's absolutely fantastic, thought-provoking, and is an excellent defense of the film. I'm going to read The Phantom Menace one next. It's great to see someone so passionately writing about these unfairly maligned films, particularly one who knows so much about the Star Wars mythology.

You're most welcome. I enjoy discussing the prequels very much, and your own film essays so far (which you linked through your lj) were superb, so it would be great if you were to have a go as well, you know.

Aww, thank you. You, too, btw...I loved reading the film essays you wrote, particularly the Alien analyses. Right now, I'm actually planning on something I started on Kill Bill and the Hero's Journey that I've been waiting to see Volume 2 to finish, but I'd love to tackle something on the prequels, too. Maybe I'll do that next. Oh, and speaking of which, funny coincidence, but I just posted my latest film class paper, which is on Rebel Without a Cause, moments ago at my LJ, if you're interested.

I only have a few minutes a day to get online this weekend (visitor here), but on Sunday evening, I'm looking forward to reading your essay!

And thank you.
