I'm very struck by what you say about Lois & Clark. I remember watching it with enjoyment, and liking Cain and Hatcher and particularly John Shea as Lex Luthor, who pointed out that a millionaire in the 1990s would certainly find a way to prevent or remedy baldness. *g* But it didn't make a huge impression on me; I don't remember a lot of details.
I think my stepdaughter's feelings about it are a lot closer to yours, as I suspect you two are close in age (mid-twenties, in her case). I think it was a formative show for her; when she was active on LJ, she had a couple of L&C icons. I spend a lot of time thinking about how the things we read and watch in our formative years shape who we are, how I can see in some writers' and directors' work that they watched the same shows I did as a kid. For example, the Austin Powers movies were obviously a James Bond spoof, but it was plain to me that Mike Meyers had watched The Avengers just as I did.
Anyway, I am rambling and will probably link my daughter to this post because I'd like to see her reaction.
