Thirty Days of Borgias: Day Twenty

selenakDay 20 ~ What do you like best about The Borgias?
The ensembleness. When I was younger (so much younger than today, thanks, John Lennon), I still did the "watch the show for one or two characters" thing occasionally, but the older I get the more I think that way lies the path to fannish misery, and the more grateful I am if there is a show giving me an ensemble of interesting people whose interactions in any combinations I can find enthralling. Doesn't mean I don't still have favourites, but see, if there is ensemble goodness it means that episodes light on my favourites still don't bore me, or are painful to watch, but keep me captivated. And The Borgias does that to me. Take Juan, who is probably my least favourite regular, in s1 as well as s2. While I still think there should have been more of a transition between s1 and s2 re:Juan, it doesn't mean episodes with lots of Juan scenes made me groan. Well, okay, much of the time he had scenes with people who are my favourites, but even so, my point stands: everyone on this show is compelling to watch. And that's what I like best about The Borgias.
