The rape isn't shown more than once (and then not gratitiously, just enough to make it clear what is happening), but it's an ongoing situation until the character in question gets freed in episode 6 (by another female character). That was about the only thing in the first season I didn't like. Ihe second season, no one, either female or male, has gotten raped so far, plus the female character who was last season has now become a major power player. (Oh, and the guys who raped her all all dead. Also no man was motivated by what happened to her, though two other women were.) But if you want a show where NO rape happens, this isn't it.
Brutality in general: some violent fights (well, pirates). Also beheadings and a leg amputation. No eye gougings so far.
Morality: shades of grey. Except for the occasional scumbag who is just vile, but most characters have their layers and reasons for what they do. There is a firm idealist in the flashback past and several good guys in the present, but one is dead now. What I really appreciate is that the various crews aren't either fanatical loyal followers who just do what they're told or a mob changing its mind at every opportunity, but people who can make up their own minds. If they have doubts about their leaders, the show doesn't present them as stupid or wrong for doing so, and they do something about it.
