Agreed on both. Not least because for Norman to kill Norma's lover the lover in question has to be someone he sees as a genuine threat (to his relationship with Norma, and/or his own freedom). He wasn't keen on Boring George last season, or the evil deputy before finding out about the guy being evil, but he wouldn't have been jealous to the point of murder, or believed his mother had truly strong feelings for either man. If the show were to introduce a new character for Norma to fall in love with as the Last Boy Man, so to speak, I doubt the audience would buy it, either. But the relationship with Alex Romero has been carefully build up step by step, plus Alex knows about Norman and Miss Watson (and must be aware that a passed lie detector test is by no means a guarantee). He would immediately suspect him were Norma to suddenly become a recluse who doesn't talk to anyone. Lots of reason for Norman - once he's gone that far - to kill him.
Incidentally, considering Norman can't tell Norma and Mother apart, do you think he truly believes Norma killed Blair Watson? Or believed it until now when he realised he's hallucinating Norma at times?
