Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens may be Barrie at his whimsiest, but I definitely prefer it to any more "rational" origin story. Peter Pan isn't a Dickension orphan boy, dammit. And Barrie in the novel declaring that Hook being an old Eton boy explains everything about him is hilarious and far better than the Artful Dodger thing the Pan trailer seems to hint at.
