The het shippers have retaliated by saying that slash erases women, and is therefore bad (I will not argue that slashers have not treated female characters badly over the years, but ON THE WHOLE!), and het is the only progressive thing ever! Somehow femslash gets left out of this?
Save that I have recently been told that I should not ship two white women when there is a black man to ship one of the white women with, because otherwise I'm erasing the black man. (I will not argue that shippers have not ignored black characters in the past, but again!).
Shipping what you want because you like the pairing seems to be on its back foot, certainly.
