True about Fabian, and Kästner in general. To be fair, this was the case ever since Emil outsold everything he'd done earlier. Now without the Third Reich, I imagine, he might have kept switching between writing children's books and writing adult novels and/or poetry, and maybe then his reputation would have been differently, but as it was twelve years later he was Käster The Novelist For Children for good.
