I've been very proud of Germany the last few days. I hope everyone can keep it up.

We lit Manchester Town Hall in the colours of the flag, too. It's become all too routine. But we know it could be us, any time.

Believe me, given the way the AFD is crowing right now and the way the CSU has behaved the entire year, I'm taking nothing for granted. But yes - here's hoping decency continues to win over hate. And working for it, of course; speaking up has never been more important. Lethargy in the face of evil being the worst temptation, because this year certainly demonstrated all over again what it makes possible.
