There is a lot of religious imagery in Borgia and for the most part it's well used, but there is one geniune clunker which annoyed me because it's exactly the same thing Vikings also did. I don't care how heavy a point about irony you want to make, there's no way even the worst and most corrupt cleric in the world would have ordered a cruxificion. Lots of other painful executions, absolutely, but the cruxificion, never.

Whereas the nun with the stigmata, and her reaction when Lucrezia (who is at that point still a teenager and in a "I want to become a nun" phase) says she hopes for them as well were dead-on and perfect for the time.
