- it's set in the 2090s, about a decade after John Robinson led the campaign which saved Earth from alien invaders, and now he's acclaimed as a hero but a stranger to his family;
- Maureen (played by Star Trek: Discovery's Jayne Brook, which is how I heard about it in the first place) is a doctor;
- Judy is played by Adrienne Palicki, and she and Brook and the child playing Will are literally the only cast members with any charisma whatsoever;
- for some reason Penny is a baby? played by an infant who spends a lot of time being hauled around like a sack of potatoes? (This actually seems pretty realistic, I'm just deeply confused by the decision to turn a valuable speaking role into a baby, which presumably comes with a lot of logistical issues in filming and stuff);
- there's also an extra Robinson child, David, the eldest, who is taken by the ALIEN INVADERS at the end of the pilot -- I wasn't completely sold on Brook being old enough to be his mother, but Maureen has an exchange with Judy about the danger of dating pilots which would make it plausible that she had him very young;
- there's no Dr Smith, the family gets LOST IN SPACE due to the alien invaders.
It's very ... someone at WB looked at the BSG miniseries and went, "Okay, what if we do that, but cheaper and with adorable children and teen drama?" (The sets went on to be used for the Pegasus, that's how close the aesthetic was.) But I enjoyed it as a curiosity -- while also appreciating that it didn't go to series, because the writing for Judy was quite stereotypical and sexist.
(If you want to give it a look, don't read the comments.)
