As someone quite who was quite invested in Alexander and his relationship with Hephaistion, I remember thinking this movie was hilariously bad (though I did in fact buy it on dvd to have a fangirl viewing of it), mostly because the acting choices were so very over the top even when they didn't need to be (and often when they would have been better off being underplayed). I haven't seen it in years, though. Maybe I would feel more charitable towards it now.
