Date: 2024-09-16 10:00 pm (UTC)Grayza - in my posts when I first watched the show, and I still think so, it's a rare example of one of Farscape's usual positives working against it. Because otherwise the show has a sterling record of taking sexualised concepts that are used in other shows for juvenile jokes and/or fanservice, and taking them seriously in a genuinely adult (as in mature) way. However, the writers here seem to be working on the assumption or false memory that Blake's 7 depicted Servalan as a shallow bimbo who slept her way to the top, which is a really gross (in every sense of the word) misreading of the original show and the character (obviously they decided to rewatch a couple of B7 episodes and picked Ben Steed ones). Sort of a gender-flipped villainous, and more misogynistic, version of the "Kirk was a lust-driven horndog who seduced every hot alien babe who crossed his path" false memory of Star Trek TOS
