FW was a hardcore Protestant, of course. :) Wittelsbach Dukes (and later, Kings - even Ludwig II spent a weekend in that castle, and they still show you the pics to prove it!), otoh, expected spectacle before, during and after their religious services.

I hadn't known anything about Landshut earlier, either, other than the Landshut Wedding takes place there; as I said, for some reason I never visited before, even though it's not that far from where I live.
