Yes, this was such a good movie - not exactly loyal to the events of the book but intensely loyal to the meaning of it. Kirsten Dunst's performance was so astonishingly good that I remember wondering afterwards if she was actually a short-statured adult performing as a child. And Tom Cruise! What a revelation and then a disappointment as he retreated from acting to Being Tom Cruise instead. And, unlike just about every other vampire-centric production, it's entirely clear about what's happening to the victims, and about what exactly is keeping Louis, Lestat and Claudia alive.
