Marcus and Franklin were amusing, but man, I'd want to strangle Marcus too if I were traveling with him!
and you know, hats off to JMS for making the punchline of the joke "married" not "two MEN who are married" as far as their fake IDs are concerned.
Yes!
Also, Jack! :( I thought it was neat how within the space of the episode he went from comic to tragic :(
Seriously, I think I had forgotten quite how much high handed and arrogant Sheridan comes across in the first argument scene. (Not in the second when he tries to apologize.) Not least because Garibaldi is entirely right, he's a private citizen now, and what he said in his ISN interview wasn't giving away any station secrets, it simply was a criticism of Sheridan well within the rights of free speech. "Giving aide and comfort to the enemy", seriously, Sheridan?
Yeah, seriously, if you hadn't told me before I watched this that the narrative was on Sheridan's side, I would 100% have thought that this was setting up a plotline where Sheridan really was getting too full of himself. (Though I guess the second scene, like you say, does show Sheridan being less arrogant.)
And a reply:
I would agree that Delenn's habit of handing Sheridan only parcels of the truth would drive me crazy if I were, but having said that, in all fairness there are other fandoms where in one case I'm totally into a relationship where one party, a trickster character, absolutely refuses to tell their pre-show backstory to the other party, so clearly that's not an absolute for me.
Yeah -- I think this is something that bothers me way now, in my mid-40's, after seeing more than one marriage fall apart or go through tough and unhappy times at least partially for lack of good communication, that probably wouldn't have bothered me if I had watched in my 20's. But it also depends on the ship, I think -- I don't think I mind one party in the ship being secretive or having poor communication if the ship itself is supposed to be dysfunctional like Fritz/Heinrich or if the character is clearly a dysfunctional or trickster character, with what that means for the relationship in general. But I think the narrative thinks that Delenn/Sheridan is supposed to be a reasonably functional relationship, and so it drives me nuts!
ALSO. This episode AGAIN demonstrates that Delenn can't communicate at all, and Sheridan lets her get away with it! Like, I know the whole ritual thing was supposed to be humorous and played for laughs, but honestly, the very LEAST you should be willing to tell your fiance is how many rituals he has to go through, and whether there are gotchas like people watching, before the actual event! Delenn must be really hot, or something, because otherwise I don't see why Sheridan puts up with this.
