Ahhhh yeah, that's very true -- and of course I just talked on DW about how there are some things that made my sister susceptible in the same kinds of ways. It's nice that Heinrich at least found Lehndorff a good enough friend that he valued that connection, even if it wasn't in exactly the way Lehndorff wanted.
Not that Lehndorff was ever a sycophantic yes-man - otherwise he wouldn't have had arguments with Heinrich, which he occasionally did, usually but not always about the more dastardly boyfriends
Ha! That's a good reminder to me too, because I tend to remember all the love declarations and forget that he did in fact argue with him.

Yes, and I have to think that, if Heinrich hadn't been, well, brought up like he had, he would have appreciated that more in Lehndorff and less in Kaphengst and Mara and Kalckreuth. (Even if he didn't need the adoration as much, and appreciated that and Lehndorff less, that is, at least maybe he would have fallen in love with someone that Lehndorff had fewer problems with ;) )
