Once again Burnham has a first officer who outranks her by being a Captain with much greater seniority to her. It's nice to see Leoben but it would nice to have one of the old hands step up as well.
I did enjoy Fred, pity he instantly got himself killed.
I'm also hoping Adira get some interesting stuff on the trip to Trill it just occurred to me before that came up in the episode they don't really do the 'oh i know xyz from my past lives' thing with them often and at the moment with them embroiled in 24th century TNG era stuff, it would be useful to have someone who lived through it on hand, no? I wonder what their symbiote was doing in that era.
