The context, to me, was that he had already told her something of the threat; note that after their little confrontation, he says something like "OK, let's get back to this", and goes back to describing the issue in more detail. I even remember thinking "he paused the 'save the ship' convo for this? Man, he must be panicking over the Tyrol fight." I might have misheard, mind you.
