Discovering yet another show: West Wing
Jun. 26th, 2003 09:04 pmStarting with my England-aquired DVDs, I watched the first episodes of "The West Wing", which several friends whose taste I trust have recommended to me for a long time. I could see the attraction right away. Snappy dialogue and the White House not as it is, but as it ought to be.
"A Proportional Response" gave me the chills, though. In a good way. For a while I wasn't sure whether they meant to imply Bartlett's first instinctive response was a good thing, but then Leo gave the speech boiling down to "you could do that, but then I'd raise an army against you, starting with me". What we call "Zivilcourage" in German. (Can't really be translated.) I'm definitely glad I brought this.
( On the flippant side: )
