Don't you just hate it when certain male relatives, under the pretext of wanting to "improve" your perfectly functioning laptop, manage to wreck it and thus reduce you to having to use other people's computers? Grrr. Argh.

The Quark story is up, beta'd, here:
http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1862238

I got my [livejournal.com profile] multiverse2004 assignment, and squeed in delight at one of the three suggestions. The other two are intriguing enough to make me consider writing at least one of them as well.

Lastly, I've been meaning to do this for ages. Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra: one character the author has written answers the "three most liked and most disliked movies" question. Bear in mind that the character's opinions don't have to be the ones of the author. So, in my case, it had to be Darla (Londo and Quark preferring the entertainment of their own culture).
(In the back of my head, an emotionally unstable nerd speaks up.
Warren: What about me?
Yours Truly: What about you? I wrote the Five Things about you, granted, but that hardly makes me an expert.
Warren: You also cowrote the musical.
Yours Truly: Still not an expert.
Warren: Bet you think I'll say
Star Wars, but that's so Andrew's thing. I'm going with Zardoz.
YT: ZARDOZ?!?
Warren: Sean Connery is a god.
YT: Aren't you lucky you died before
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen got released. Anyway, I'm not listening to you anymore. I'm transcribing Darla's replies.)

Darla's reply

Favourite Movies:

1.) The Hunger. Yes, the depiction of vampires isn't exactly accurate, but then again - a powerful blonde immortal woman, her darling boy and her maddening girl - that's not to love?

2.) Il Gattopardo. Luchino was one of the few mortals I could stand anyway, and I used to visit him every time I was in Italy. I was the one to suggest casting Burt Lancaster, over all the naysayers who claimed an American moviestar could not possibly play a Sicilian aristocrat. Mind you, a little more bloodshed near the end would have been nice, but still, a masterpiece.

3.) Der Blaue Engel. Darling Marlene, before Joe got her on a diet and changed her into the poster child for hollow cheeks. Plump and vibrant and vulgar and deliciously good at dealing out humiliaton to Emil Jannings.

Most Despised Movies:

1.) Hook. I had to watch this when posing as a Catholic school girl. The only reason why Steven Spielberg is still alive today is because I always found better things to do than killing him in revenge.

2.) Apocalypse Now. Or, how to make some perfectly good slaughter boring by endless pseudo-philosophical mumble in between. The only person I took the later from was the Master.

3.) Mrs Miniver. Speaking of whom: in the 40s, Luke had the bright idea of trying to cheer our recently trapped Sire up by bringing down a screen, a film projector and the movie they showed in Sunnydale at the time. The Master had never deigned to watch a movie before. You certainly couldn't convince him they were worth his time after this. We all suffered from sirupy indegestion for weeks.
