Reccing away....
Jun. 12th, 2007 06:32 pmLast night I had my first Dr. Who caused nightmare. Thanks, S. Moffat, Esquire, you brilliant bastard.
In other news, usually I don't watch the Confidentials, but heard this week's was good so did watch, and you should, too. If, you know, the prospect of David Tennant geeking out about Old Who with first Moffat and then various other writers, plus a producer or two, in the old BBC studios in London (not Cardiff, where they're filming now) appeals to you. Said geeking out about the old monsters and the other Doctors (given that everybody and their Dalek usually names Baker as their first Doc, I was surprised that for most of the current Who staff, it was Pertwee) is done in Tennant's actual Scottish accent, which makes him sound quite different from the Doctor.
calapine has started to post a long plotty adventure for the Doctor and Martha, set post-42 and pre-Human Nature, with the first part here. I love fanfic that manages to combine characterisation with atmosphere and plot, and
calapine's always does. Enjoy this one, from the start!
Pirates!
penknife, back from the Caribbean, has written Nine Pieces of Eight: Calypso visits nine characters in their dreams. Calypso fic has been my dearest dream ever since watching the movie, and here it is, with gorgeous characterisation for her and everyone from Elizabeth to Ragetti.
Lastly:
callmesandy wrote Dry Spells Hard Times Bad Lands, which is Connor and Buffy teaming up to find Angel & Co. post-NFA (and becoming a couple; as with an earlier story of hers which I raved about here in this journal,
callmesandy writes it in a very believable way). Great dialogue, top characterisation, and excellent use of players such as Andrew (his online chat with Connor is to die for), Dawn and Rona.
