Has anyone recced my old DS9 fanfiction lately? Because this last week I've been getting an influx of reviews and favouritisms, and while this is delightful and makes me happy, it also makes me wonder where it comes from.

It also makes me ponder statistics. I occasionally refer to myself as a gen writer, by which I mean my stories most times aren't shippy in the sense of focusing on romantic pairings. (Of either the het or the slash variety.) But is this really true? *looks at DS9 ouevre, not counting drabbles*

Cold Heaven: could be called Joseph Sisko/Prophet PWP, I suppose, but, err, not romantic at all. Probably the most creepy thing I wrote in DS9.
Five Things which never happened between Kira and Dukat: definitely meant as an investigation of the relationship and all its aspects. I don't think of it as romantic, but they do have sex in one of the five AUs.
Quark's Day: has some unrequited Quark/Dax and some Garak/Bashir subtext, but is an ensemble story meant to reflect the station immediately after the second occupation in season 6, and Quark's issues with Odo plus his family mess gets more narrative room than said subtext.
Five Things which never happened between Garak and Bashir: no sex in any of the five, but UST in each of them. Definitely relationship-focused.
The One Who Got Away: that was my first Multiverse challenge, a Farscape/DS9 crossover. Quark/Chiana, which was fun to write, with a Quark 'n Odo framing narration which was even more fun. I did smuggle a Chiana/Kira insinuation in as well.
Chosen: Kai Winn character portrait, set in her childhood. No ship at all.
Faith Manages: Another Winn character portrait. Does contain a bit of Winn/Dukat, but is mostly about her relationship with the Prophets. So I'd classify it as non-shippy.
Two of Us: about Quark and Dax, friendship on Dax' part, love on Quark's. Yes, that's unabashedly shippy.
Coming Through: Jake Sisko mourns for his grandfather. Came about by the coincidence of the actor playing Joseph Sisko dying and hurricane Katrina happening (the Siskos hail from New Orleans). No romantic subtext of any kind.
Coming in from the Cold: More multiverse, a DS9/B5 crossover this time. The Garak meets Bester story. No romance or subtext.
Abraham's Son: in which Jake and Kai Winn discover they have things in common. While Jake/Winn would have freaked out Sisko to the nth degree, sex or romance isn't one of them. Definitely gen.
Nowhere Man: Multiverse again, the triple TW/DS9/DW crossover in which Garak ends up mentoring the Torchwood gang during the year that wasn't. Does have some DW and TW related text and subtext, but no DS9 one aside from one nod to Garak/Bashir in passing. With the main ship being Owen/his issues, I'd say this is another gen.

So, all in all: more 'shipping than I thought, but gen still dominates in this fandom.

They became my favourite New Who Doctor/Companion combination, and in terms of all DW, Old School and New combined, still rank among the top 3. Here are some reasons why.

Yes, this would be my big season 4 post. )
