Threesomes?

thalia_seawood, this time in the original language, which I have to see removed one of the few moments of emotional disbelief I had. (Generally the dubbing quality of the German version wasn't bad - they went to the trouble to come up with an entire new pun that still makes sense in context to explain McCoy's nickname, for example - but in the case of a certain goodbye scene on the transporter, the German actors just didn't sound right, while the original ones sold the scene in question to me.) I'm still trying to catch up with the fanfic (or rather, parts of same) in between wrestling with a real life problem, but a few general observations all the same:
-skywaterblue pointed me towards pike_2009, which is a good place to be
- hooray for all the Gaila stories! If I ever get around to a rec list that doesn't just repeat other people's rec lists, Gaila stories shall be on it
- while I'm pleased that Kirk/Spock and ( spoilery new het shippers ) haven't, with a few exceptions, started on a big bashing fest complete with vilification of one or more parties involved, but seem to go for the threesome option instead, I can't quite buy it. In this particular case, mind. Threesomes (in more than a one night stand sense, I mean) work for me if all three parties are genuinenly emotionally involved with each other and attracted to each other. For example, Pirates of the Caribbean, especially the last film of the trilogy, sold me on Will/Elizabeth/Jack scenarios. Because I didn't just get the sense of Will loving Elizabeth and Jack at the least being attracted to and caring about her, but Elizabeth caring for and being attracted to both of them and Will and Jack caring about each other. Whereas I could never believe, say, Will/Elizabeth/Norrington - Norrington and Will are mostly indifferent to each other at best, and even their rivalry in the first film comes without personal hostility. Going back to the new Trek movie, I think I'm not the only one who found it immensely refreshing that ( someone did something spoilery which I see as important for someone's characterisation. ) In conclusion, this is why I don't see threesome potential with these particular three people.

The first reviews for the new Terminator movie are in, and the male-centeredness is definitely not encouraging me to watch it or abandon my The Sarah Connor Chronicles are the best thing that ever came out of the Terminator franchise and my one true continuity" stance. On that note, have a rec:
