Mira Furlan
Jan. 22nd, 2021 09:23 amThrough a tweet by JMS, I found out Mira Furlan has died. Of course, I knew her primarily as Delenn in Babylon 5, but I have also seen her as Danielle Rousseau in Lost and, unforgettably, in The Tour, which to me was the best film to have a troupe of actors confronting the absurd horror and the horrible absurdity of war since Ernst Lubitsch made To Be Or Not To Be, and much as I had liked Mira Furlan in those other two roles, hearing her act in her original language took it to another dimension again.
Mourning for an actor always feels a bit odd, and yet not, because even though we never knew the private person, we know what they have given us. These three parts were great gifts. Thank you, Mira Furlan. May your memory be a blessing.
