Babylon 5 pimping and Buffyverse rec
Sep. 28th, 2006 05:42 pmIn Berlin again; and very grateful for yesterday's good wishes. I also showed no backbone by signing up to
ruuger's Babylon 5 Rare Pairings Ficathon (i.e. every pairing except the big three, the big three being Sheridan/Delenn, Ivanova/Talia and Ivanova/Marcus), and aim to start my 38th year by making everyone else who has a vague knowledge of B5 do this as well. People, I'm the only one who asked for Londo or any kind of Centauri pairing. This can't be right! What happened to the revolution? Are we back to the dark days where only humans and Minbari get all the action? Get ye hence and sign up here!
In other news, and speaking of pairings, I've been meaning to rave about this: Kita's All Ways, which chances are anyone interested has already read. It's, among other things, a Buffy/Spike/Angel story. Which manages to pull off the fiendishly difficult task of not only doing justice to all three characters, but to all the relationships - Buffy's with Angel, Buffy's with Spike, Spike's with Angel, and the threesome itself which is but one aspect here. It's what I always dreamt of but, no offense to other writers of any of the above named pairings, couldn't find. Because usually one of the three is drawn with a liiiiiittttle less sympathy and/or skill than the others. Or you can sense the preference the author has for one particular combination. Which is natural. I don't ship in the Buffyverse, but if you asked me to write, say, a Londo/Lyta/G'Kar threesome, I doubt I could do Lyta justice, either. Still, if a writer manages not to fall into one of these traps, and delivers fiction as awesome as this one, it makes my fannish day, week and month.
