And a happy Sunday morning to you all. So far, my favourite April 1st joke has been the Observer announcing Tony Blair's post-PM career as an actor with Kevin Spacey. But of course, what really counts:

It's a good season opener, not an all time classics episode, just a great way to say hello again. Martha made her debut - and btw, liked that they acknowledged the fact the same actress was in Doomsday with that line about her cousin - and so far, I thoroughly enjoyed her. She has the requisite companion attributes of smarts, curiosity and courage, but not so much so that she comes across as Superwoman or has no way to develop, and I really liked her line about "doctor" being a title he has to earn first, not to mention the way she teased him at the end. (And of course the man can't stand being on his own, not just because he's rather desperate for company (and to show off) but because he knows what he could become.)

The Judoon (spelling?), aka the Space Rhinos were that unique Who flavour of silliness, and I loved it - especially that they were a police patrol as opposed to invaders. And vampires plasmavores who look like middleaged ladies are for the win; in her scene with the Doctor, I also had fond memories of Margaret. Not to mention that said scene had that Old Who element of the villain believing he/she's trapping the Doctor while the Doctor is trapping him/her. *has moment of Seven nostalgia*

Ten was in fine form in general, and so was David Tennant; aside from said scene with the plasmavore, I liked the looking at the moon with Martha best. Watching, it struck me that I missed this particular incarnation of the Doctor, who might not be my favourite (Seven!), but has a firm place as my second favourite by now.

This season's mystery: one Saxon name check on the tv - so Mr. Saxon has something to say about aliens, does he? - and the election posters in the background several times. *rubs hands gleefully*

Vague feeling there was a "Vote Saxon" sign in the background of Captain Jack Harkness too?

There was. And he was in the headlines of a paper in Love and Monsters.

*dances* Space rhinos! Mean old lady that sipped blood from a bendy straw! (I swear I've met one of those.) I have missed this show so much.

Martha is great so far - I love her scientific deductions about the air, getting the manual for the x-ray, and closing Mr Stoker's eyes.

And Saxon! Oooh. I can't wait to know more about him.

Mr. Stoker: was that an appropriate name or what? I love this show.
