Re: the boys - I know what you mean. Having read up on the case, I realise JMS even toned it down - because there was sexual abuse, too, especially for the nephew. And the crazy serial killer in turn according to his mother, who was actually his grandmother (but he didn't know that), was the product of his grandfather having raped his (the grandfather's) daughter, and abused himself as a boy.

As for the LAPD, finding out that Jones and the chief were both reinstated later galled me, I have to admit, and again, I can understand why that didn't get mentioned; both Christine and the audience deserved a sense of victory at that point.
